The engine features a tight-tolerance, fast-response governor that detects when load (such as squeezing the trigger of a pressure washer) is applied and quickly delivers ample continuous power so there is little to no bogging down. Combining this mechanical governor, high-inertia flywheel and advanced carburetor design, the KOHLER Hydro 13 delivers the power needed to blast away dirt, grime and oil. The horizontal-shaft engine is also fully sealed to protect it against water infiltration, ensuring reliability and long life.

While on the job site, end users expect their equipment to start effortlessly nearly every time. That's why the KOHLER Hydro 13 provides users with easy, dependable starts by combining a sealed electronic TCI ignition system, automatic compression release and dual main ball bearings. Once the equipment is running, the OHV-slant-cylinder KOHLER Hydro 13 keeps on running longer than its closest competitors, because of its large-capacity metal fuel tank (7.3 liters) and a swirl-induction combustion chamber that contributes to superb fuel efficiency.

Only the finest materials are incorporated into the manufacture of the KOHLER Hydro 13, including a cast iron cylinder sleeve, steel-forged crankshaft, Stellite®-faced exhaust valve and Tufftride®-coated stem. These components add up to performance reliability and product durability. In addition, a dual-element air cleaner, dual-side oil fill/drain and dipstick, fuel filtration, and Oil Sentry™ low oil warning system provide added engine protection.

The KOHLER Hydro 13 runs smooth (balance shaft) and quiet as a result of its integrated exhaust system, silenced air intake, and oversized muffler (1.67 liters) with spark arrestor and guard. It also meets current EPA and CARB exhaust emission regulations, EEC sound standards and Canada RFI certification.

To assist OEMs, the KOHLER Hydro 13 engine incorporates an unobstructed PTO face, meaning that installation within all types of equipment is nearly hassle-free. The engine is an excellent repower option for existing equipment, meeting industry standards for drop-in replacement.
