The KOHLER Command PRO 18 HP, CV493, single-cylinder, vertical-shaft, overhead-valve engine was created specifically to meet the needs of the commercial cutter market, adding three more horsepower to Kohler’s current commercial walk-behind and ZTR market offering.

A three-ramp combustion chamber, dual-ported head and dyno-maxed cams provide the power needed for grueling applications. An optimized ignition timing fine-tunes the engine for maximum potential.

In addition, Kohler’s patented hydraulic lifter design-- enhanced with an adjustable valve train--ensures dependable starts.

The engine features OHV technology, a key component in KOHLER Command engines, for maximum fuel efficiency, low oil consumption and minimal carbon build-up. With a precise air-to-fuel mixture, Command PRO engines meet CARB and EPA emission standards.

As with all Command PRO engines, the CV493 delivers faster starts, increased fuel efficiency, longer service intervals, improved reliability and peak performance due to several added features -- high-performance spark plugs, larger capacity filters (oil and fuel), and larger capacity, dual-element air cleaners — ultimately resulting in reduced maintenance and premium protection.
